Dr. Karen H. Hallmark was raised in Charleston. She graduated with a BS in psychology from the College of Charleston in 1981. She received her MD from Medical University of South Carolina in 1987. Her residency was completed at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in 1991. She has been married since 1985 and has 2 children ages 13 & 15. She enjoys rollerblading, snow skiing, boating, and attending the many musical, sporting, social, academic, and church – affiliated events in which her children participate.

Before attending medical school, Dr. Hallmark worked as a social worker for surgery patients at Charleston Memorial Hospital. After completing residency in Pittsburgh, she began an OB/GYN private practice at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital from 1991-1999. She returned home to Charleston and joined Mt. Pleasant OB/GYN, PA in 1999.

Dr. Hallmark is currently on staff at East Cooper Regional Medical Center and Roper Care Alliance. She has been involved in many committees at East Cooper Regional and served as Chairman of the OB/GYN Department from 2002-2004.

Dr. Hallmark’s certifications include: Fellow, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, South Carolina Obstetrics and Gynecology Society, South Carolina Medical Association, and Charleston County Medical Society.
